Annual Events
The Kamloops Arts Council may be best known for their annual events. These arts oriented events provide necessary opportunities for visual artists, performing artists and artisans to sell or exhibit their work, venues to perform, and a chance to promote or teach their talent.
Our longest running event is Art in the Park, wowing crowds for over 30 years; our newest is the Juried Art Show with only one very successful year under its belt. All of our events were created out of a need in our community, a passion to promote local artists, a desire to support new and diverse artforms and a love of the arts itself. In creating our events, we aim bring increased opportunities for our artists, no matter what genre or medium, and to bring knowledge of the work to the community.
Art in the Park began as a small arts market on Father’s Day, Downtown and North Shore Artwalk as a partnership between art and business, Children’s Arts Festival as an opportunity to create a day of art specifically for children, Kamloops Writers Fair to promote writing as an artform, Juried Art Show for local artists to challenge themselves, Lumiere Parade as a magical way to pass the time between Art in the Park and the fireworks and The Body Beautiful: Art Redefined as an underrepresented artform (and because we could!).
The Kamloops Arts Council is very proud of what they have accomplished over the past 40 years and hopes that the community appreciates and enjoys our events as much as we do.
