Community Investment Program: Arts & Culture – Children’s Arts Festival, Kamloops BC
Teck Highland Valley Copper announces a sponsorship of $25,000
Kamloops is home to over 600 employees of Teck Highland Valley Copper and support for the Children’s Arts Festival will continue to enhance the mine’s reputation in the community while supporting an interest in the arts. A donation of $25,000 to the Kamloops Arts Council has been designated to support the next five Children’s Arts Festivals!
Organized by the Kamloops Art Council for the past ten years, the annual Children's Arts Festival is a fun-filled, creative day of artistic, musical and theatrical activities for the children of Kamloops. The entire day is free and includes creative workshops such as mask-making, clayworks, theatre games, rhythm drumming, belly dancing and watercolour painting, as well as child-oriented performances by music, dance and theatre groups. Highland Valley Copper has been a minor sponsor of the event for the past two years but has generously offered $25,000 to be applied to the event over the course of the next five years to help create an even more spectacular festival!
This year’s Children’s Arts Festival will take place on Saturday, September 17th, 11am to 4pm and we are excited to present new and exciting programs for 2011.
The Kamloops Arts Council would like to take the opportunity to thank Teck Highland Valley Copper for their continued support and the incredibly generous gift. Support of the arts is not only healthy for the artists, it is healthy for the community as a whole. Thank you!
