Kamloops Arts Council Grants
The Kamloops Arts Council is a community-based, non-profit society devoted to the development and enhancement of the arts in the City of Kamloops. The Kamloops Arts Council works to advocate for and represent all facets of the arts, inform and provide support for arts organizations and individual artists, including professionals and emerging artists. Our mandate includes serving as a voice for the Arts community and building strong relationships among community artists, professional and amateur arts organizations and other community groups, as well as encouraging dialogue and participation.
Everything the Kamloops Arts Council supports will:
* contribute to the advancement of community cultural development
* include, as co-developers, the people and groups the program is intended to serve
* be designed, funded and delivered in partnership(s) serve the Kamloops community
* be cross-sectional
* be cost-effective
* be sustainable
* encourage diversity and creativity
* have evaluative processes built in
* facilitate community cultural literacy
* have educational value in purpose and design
* encourage learning
* provide a balance between aesthetic and community development goals
* foster ethical and co-operative interpersonal and inter-organizational relationships
OBJECTIVE
Grants are awarded primarily to assist local artists and art organizations to promote their art or further their educations. Applications that are made by commercial enterprises and for assistance with fundraising events are not eligible. Applications that are predominately cultural and heritage related may be considered it they meet the primary purpose.
The Kamloops Arts Council awards objective is to allow:'
* Access - assistance is provided to enable all sectors of the community to participate in arts and cultural activities
* Community-based leadership - assistance is provided to group or individual leaders to enhance their abilities and resources, which will then enable the leaders to give back to the community.
* Local Support - assistance is provided to enable community members to help others in the community.
* Merit - assistance is provided to support excellence in artistic and cultural endeavors.
CRITERIA
Grant Applications should fall under one of the following categories:
a) Personal Development:
To help further the artistic development of an individual or single organization. (Note: Scholarship assistance is a separate program).
b) Community Development:
To support community artistic development through initiatives such as workshops, master classes and seminars.
POLICY
* Grants from the Kamloops Arts Council range up to a maximum of $600.00, subject to availability of funds.
* Individuals or groups may receive only one grant per fiscal year.
* In order to be eligible, each applicant must submit a completed application form which includes:
i) a clear outline of the proposal
ii) a statement of revenue and expenses, and
iii) a reference letter (if applicant has not applied previously)
* The amount of the grant:
i) will not exceed one-third of the project's total, up to a $600.00 maximum
Receipt of applications will not be acknowledged. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the application is delivered to the Kamloops Arts Council. Successful applicants will be advised.
