The Children's Arts Festival is fun-filled day of artistic, musical and theatrical activities for parents and children ages 2 to 12. Those partaking in the day's festivities can expect creative workshops for the children such as Maskmaking, Clayworks, Lanterns, Rhythm Drumming, Puppetmaking, Henna, Artist Trading Cards, Hip Hop, Primitive Art, Beads & Hempwork, Theatre Games, Songwriting, Creative Movement, Nature Stencil Art, Bellydancing and Watercolour Painting.  There are amazing performances by local music, dance and theatre groups in our very own Storytelling Tent - the children are often entertained BY children who love to share their talent!  Community groups are also invited to set up in the park to promote their organization, and provide children with small arts projects. The Children's Arts Festival is the perfect way to spend a Saturday with the family - fun for everyone guaranteed!

To participate as a workshop facilitator, entertainer, artist, or community group, please contact the Kamloops Arts Council Office. The City of Kamloops continues to be the generous sponsor of this event.

North Shore Artwalk 2010 map coming soon!

The Kamloops Arts Council has teamed up with the Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association and the North Shore Business Improvement Association to coordinate Artwalk. Taking place in our Downtown core in the spring as well as on the North Shore in mid summer, the intent of Artwalk is to provide an opportunity to develop a partnership between local businesses, their customers, visitors and Kamloops creative community. Local artists are paired with a participating retailer to display their work in store fronts for approximately three to four weeks. This event is a wonderful opportunity for artists and retailers to promote themselves and support arts and culture in the city of Kamloops.

The Body Beautiful: Art Redefined

April 22nd, 2010
6:30pm to 9pm
Instinct Adornment, 319 Victoria Street

The Body Beautiful: Art Redefined is a unique exhibition which, over the course of just one evening, showcases the tattoos and body art of live models. Models are staged in the gallery, with a free hanging body-sized frame in front of them, presenting a live exhibition. The premise of the exhibition is to promote and acknowledge the body as art, in and of itself; the body is the canvas, the medium is ink. The Body Beautiful: Art Redefined is hosted as the opening of the KAC's annual Downtown Artwalk. The Body Beautiful: Art Redefined takes place at Instinct Adornment, 319 Victoria Street.
